Sure. We raise more from out of position when we’re iso-raising limpers or 3-betting (as bluff or value or squeeze) to increase fold equity. When we have a hand worthy of a raise, most of the time we actually prefer a fold when we’re raising OOP (typically from the blinds) than getting a call…unless we’re raising around the top 10% of our open-raising range.
So larger bet sizing = worse pot odds = higher fold equity. And if our opponents call, they’re making a worse mistake when we are raising the better part of our open-raising range…this also allows us to build a bigger pot too.
