Hi, Markku from Helsinki, Finland
Hi everybody !
My name is Markku, I live in Helsinki.
I've been playing poker since two years now. I am a loosing player. When I started at PokerStars I realized I didn't understand a bit of the game, so I went through the PokerStars' Poker School. Maybe I shouldn't.
I don't mind the fact that I am a loosing player, I take poker seriously and I am studying hard - I have read 36 poker books, seven of them twice, read several articles, mostly of Greg Walker at the PokerBank and of Nathan Williams "BlackRain79" as well as Alton. I've watched FullTilt's Poker School videos and Daniel Negreanu's poker education videos and much more. I play at FullTilt/PokerStars mostly NL2 cash Games and freeroll tournaments at 888, NetBet and RAY (only gambling site in the mainland Finland, which has the monopoly granted by the State).
I have already taken a few courses by Alton and somehow got the courage to join this forum whos pages I am now browsing daily.
I use about $40 a month for poker. About $20 to play and the same amount for books. Since the library has a comprehensive range of poker literature in Helsinki, I only need to buy the books that I don't find there, e.g. Alton's Math book. Kindle editions and used books are pretty cheap at Amazon.
It's really nice to be here !
It's Simon. I take poker pretty seriously as well and I've been studying for an about 8 months. Right now I'm break-even player and I'm sure that my poker will improve over time.
It's just matter of patient and applying the knowledge you've learned into your game.
I definitely recommend you to take Alton's course "how to crush micro stakes" it will give you better understanding and help you to build good foundation and finally become a winning player!
Wish you to become next Patrick Antonious or Ilari Sahamies ;p
Well, there is a good bunch of Finnish poker champions - a few days a go Jens Kyllönen won the WSOP bracelet in Las Vegas and $1,127,035, he is also the top winner at PokerStars. So there are plenty of poker idols in this country to follow in the footsteps.
But seriously, I have already taken the course "how to crush micro stakes" and read all Alton's books twice. Its only a matter of time... and hard work.
Nice to here about you !
Sorry for the delayed reply, but welcome to the forum! I'm glad to see such a dedicated student of the game here.
You're definitely on the right path to poker success, dedicating so much time to studying the game, reading books and taking courses.
One thing I have noticed in the poker education realm is that there is so much material available, that it can be overwhelming and difficult to find what works the best at the micro stakes...so if you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask.
Nathan Williams stuff is really great, especially since your play on PS and his videos are on him playing PS. Not sure if you have seen his videos, but he has a lot for free on DragTheBar.com.
Also, glad to see you read my book and too my Crush Micro Stakes course.
